mary-beth mcfern – pre-school drama leader & drama assistant

Mary-Beth McFern trained at Musselburgh’s own Queen Margaret University (QMU), between 2014 and 2018, graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in Drama and Performance. In 2016, she won two prestigious awards, Strives Young Volunteer of The Year and Her Majesty’s Jubilee Youth Award for her work in youth theatre.

Mary-Beth is an advocate for community youth theatre across East Lothian. She started her youth theatre journey with Brunton Seniors when in her early teens and volunteered as an assistant tutor to the Haddington ELYT classes. Specialising in acting and performance she has had her fair share of performance opportunities both on stage and screen. She appeared in BBC1’s Waterloo Road, River City, Murder and One of Us.

She also represented Scotland along with other young performers in the National Theatre of Scotland’s International Tin Forrest Festival in 2014.

With an enthusiastic and energetic outlook. Mary-Beth hopes to use her experience and degree to share knowledge of the industry with our young people and provide a creative space for their exploration and development within their own community.
